Effects of external ionizing radiation on personnel - part two

Writer: Invisible EnemyInvisible Enemy

Following on from our previous blog, we continue to analyse the report on the general effects of ionizing radiation.

General Effects

Personnel may become casualties from exposure to the gamma radiation and neutrons released by atomic weapons burst above ground.

Gamma radiation caused ionization in the cells.

Other substances will also be affected; proteins, enzymes and and various organic and mineral constituents.

Many of the ionizations brought about probably exist for very small time periods. But other may result in permanent change. This particularly so in the case of genetic changes.

Being complex molecules, the chances of their being restored by rundown ion-discharge is negligible and ion-induced changes become permanent.

It is from an appreciation of these tissue sensitivities that one can grasp a great deal of what happens after irradiation: to aid the memory, gamma radiation has a more or less devastating effect depending on the dose on the blood and guts!

With doses of 20 to 200r, most persons are expected to feel sick during the day of exposure, and many will vomit during the day.

By 4-6 weeks, such casualties will show loss of hair, easy bruising and small haemorrhages in the skin, sore throats and mouths and diarrhoea, often with bloody bowel motions. Moderate loss of weight is expected.

There are three ways of gauging the severity of gamma radiation illness within a few hours of an attack.

1. The position of the casualty at the moment of burst.

2. Personal Dosimeters

Suspicions about dosimeter readings should be classified from the patients history!

Treatment

No specific treatment which will return the body to its former state, is known for gamma radiation illness.

Late Complications

A small proportion of the Japanese gamma radiation casualties went on to develop leukaemia (cancer of the white cells)

Genetic Effects

It has been known for many years that gamma radiation and X-rays will affect genes

It is believed that only a small proportion of random mutations caused by gamma radiation will be better than the genetic patterns we have inherited : the majority will be worse.

The effects of gamma radiation on a small proportion of the population, such as a military formation on the field will be negligible due to the small number of bad genetic patterns.

This by itself, is poor consolation to the individual civilian or serviceman exposed to gamma radiation.

Conclusion

  1. Gamma radiation caused cell damage.

  2. You will be come ill.

  3. Your dosimeter recordings will be incorrect, but we will withhold them from you.

  4. Your genetic material will be damaged as will your children's, but don't worry, you are such a small cohort is doesn't matter to the population as a whole.

  5. There is no treatment for gamma radiation damage and you will be forever affected.

William Penney, the scientists, the civil servants and Ministers are well aware of the damage caused by ionizing radiation, they knew that future generations would be affected byt he damage, yet they chose to continue the tests, to coverup these documents, classify them and not release them.

These brave servicemen, civilians and scientists were part of an experiment, some more affected than others, but do not be fooled by the narrative that they didn't know, the science isn't there yet etc. They knew, still know and are hiding behind a flawed epidemiological study which suits their narrative, William Penney knew, he wrote this report.

A copy of this report has been sent to Johnny Mercer MP (Veteran's Minister) and Grant Schapps MP (Secretary of State for Defence) for comment.
